why you should have a fully stocked kitchen
It’s also important to have a fully stocked kitchen just in case an emergency arises, supply chain issues take over, or you and your family get sick and can’t go out in public for a period of time. Stocking your kitchen is an important fail-safe that’ll make sure you and your family stay healthy and fed no matter what situation you’re in.
how to stock your kitchen on a budget
If you want a fully stocked kitchen, I’m sure you want to stock it on a budget, am I right? To stock your kitchen on a budget you’ll have to do some legwork upfront. Once that’s done, though, there’s not much you’ll have to do other than just shop!
- Make a list of all your grocery items. This will take a while because you’ll want every single item you buy on a regular basis! My list is below if you want to use that as an example.
- Make a list of your top grocery stores you like to shop at. Be creative here, there are tons of online stores you can shop at too. My top stores are Azure Standard, Thrive Market, Fred Meyer and Costco Wholesale.
- Do your research. Go through each item and compare pricing at each store on your list. Again, this will take a while upfront, but long-term – you’ll thank yourself. Make sure you take into account any annual fees the store might charge.

What is Azure Standard
Azure Standard is a bulk food co-op and a great money-saving option for getting a fully stocked kitchen. They are a group co-op so you do have to have a group order of a certain amount in order to buy from Azure. But, unless you’re in an extremely rural area, you likely have an established drop location near you.
Why i stock my kitchen using azure standard
- Product Standards
- They use all the “right” buzz words such as Certified Organic (meaning it is truly 100% organic).
- Natural and Non-GMO Foods
- They have a list of 15 “Unacceptable Ingredients” for the food they carry.
- And, my personal favorite product standard – their rules around “natural flavorings” which usually just means artificial flavors! They make their vendors sign a certification letter saying that anything labeled “natural flavors” has to be devoid of 26 bad ingredients which are commonly found in “natural flavorings.”
2. Value for money. When I did my research (see above on how I researched best prices) I found that Azure Standard had the best prices on almost everything I buy on a regular basis.
How to shop at azure standard
Shopping at Azure Standard is really SO easy. There’s no annual or monthly fee, no waiting in lines at the store – just shop online and pick up.
How to Shop at Azure Standard
- Create an account
All you need to do is create an account.
- Start shopping
You can use your regular grocery list and see what they have off of that. I bet they’ll have almost everything.
- Browse sales
Don’t forget to browse their sales page! They always have great deals on fresh, in-season produce and tons of pantry essentials to fully stock your kitchen!
- Decide delivery method
You can pay to have your groceries shipped to you (definitely more convenient but you’ll pay for it). I choose the drop location method to save money. Just go to “find a drop” enter your zip code, choose a drop, and be ready on pickup day to grab your groceries.
- Favorite your items
Once you fall in love with something, don’t forget to favorite that item so you can quickly shop for it next time.

Grains/Seeds/Beans
- Wheat berries (hard red wheat for breads and soft white wheat for pasties and biscuits).
- Quinoa
- Jasmine brown rice
- Rolled oats
- Einkorn flour (I use this to feed my sourdough starter and make tons of yummy treats like my pumpkin sourdough cinnamon rolls).
- Granola (usually I’ll make my own but this is nice to have on hand!)
- Black beans
- Chickpeas
Nuts
Dried Fruit
- Dates (I use these to sweeten our smoothies, or I’ll stuff them with goat cheese and wrap them in bacon, or my favorite dessert when I’m pregnant is warmed dates with peanut butter drizzle and chocolate chips).

- Cherries (I love that they have the ones without added sugar!)
- Blueberries
- Cranberries
Dairy
- Raw, grass fed cheese (cheddar, pepperjack and cream cheese)
- Butter
- We don’t get our milk and cream from Azure because we have a local farm we love for this, but they have great quality, grass-fed A2/A2 raw milk.
Pantry staples
- Arrowroot powder (what I use as a thickener instead of cornstarch)
- Sea salt
- Maple syrup (this is truly the best pure maple syrup I’ve ever tasted).
- Raw honey ( I buy this sometimes but I do prefer local honey)
- Coconut sugar (what I use instead of cane sugar)
- Avocado oil
