What is nutritional yeast

Nutritional yeast is a type of yeast called, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which has a cheesy flavor to it. It comes in a powder form and is a great alternative to cheese in many recipes. It’s traditionally used as the yeast for bread baking and brewing beer.
Where to buy Cheese bites
Thrive Market has the whisps brand of cheese crisps (so does Target). I used the cheese bites from Trader Joe’s for this recipe. There are tons of different types of cheese crisps – cheddar, parmesan, pepper jack, etc. All would be delicious in this savory trail mix recipe.
What herbs to use for trail mix
This savory trail mix recipe is so customizable! You can use any dried herbs you like. This time I used dried basil and thyme, but you could use dried Italian herbs, sage, etc.
