How to Make a Salami Rose

I'll show you how to make a salami rose in 2 minutes or under using just a single glass. Salami roses make impressive charcuterie boards using a simple method.

Equipment

  • 1 large mouth glass I use a white wine glass for this

Ingredients
  

  • 20 slices salami thinly slice and round cut

Instructions
 

  • Start by taking your salami and pinching it in the center so it's folded in half with a gap in the middle. Put that gap on the rim of the glass.
  • Use that hand to hold it there as you do the same thing with another piece using your other hand. Place that second piece of salami slightly overtop the first one.
  • Continue doing this until you have a layer of salami that goes across the entire rim of the wine glass.
  • Continue layering your salami overtop each layer, overlapping the salami pieces even closer as you get closer to the center.
  • After each layer, or as needed, use the palms of your hands to cusp the salami against the rim of the glass so it stays put.
  • After placing all the salami in layers on your glass, use one hand and place it on top of the salami and the other hand on the bottom of the glass.
  • Flip the glass so the salami is resting in the palm of your hand.
  • Use the hand holding the bottom of the glass to gently twist the glass to remove it from the salami rose.
  • Place the salami rose wherever you'd like!

How to Store a Salami Rose

Yes, you can make salami roses ahead of time! Simply place your salami rose in an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Tips for Making a Salami Rose

Don't let all these tips fool you - salami roses are insanely easy to make and you probably won't need any 'tips' once you see how easy they are.
  • Use your hand to cusp - using your hand to cusp the meat against the glass every once in a while will give you a nice and tight salami rose.
  • Use cold meat - using cold meat might help when you're shaping your salami rose.
  • Change up the size - change the size of your rose by changing the size of your glass. Smaller glass = smaller rose.
  • Fuller rose - Use more meat to make a fuller-looking rose. Save any extras and use them for sandwiches the next day!
